Sport

Bablake believes both competitive and non-competitive team or individual sport and exercise are a crucial aspect of a young person's education. All years have a PE and/ or games session built into their timetable and there is an extensive programme of competitive sport.

Our bodies are intelligently wired machines but they need to be exercised! Physically, sport helps you maintain a healthy, toned body, while the stamina built for a sporting context helps energise you for all other activity. 'A healthy mind in a healthy body' is an oft-quoted maxim, but its common sense cannot be denied.

Regular exercise boosts self-confidence, mental concentration, co-ordination, agility, muscular strength and cardiovascular fitness. In a team context too, it brings so many social advantages: making friends, working in cooperation and experiencing the opportunity for leadership or development of specialised skills.

Bablake benefits from excellent sporting facilities. On-site, we have a sports hall that has a swimming pool, gym, dance studio and climbingwall. We also have tennis and netball courts that are being renovated this summer. Only a mile away we have an excellent Astroturf and a vast playing field with facilities for rugby, cricket, athletics and football.
