Bablake Pre Prep offers a friendly and caring environment, where children are happy and excited to come to school.
Parents, pupils and staff work in harmony to ensure successful learning takes place. There is a family atmosphere where individuals are best prepared to take full advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead and they are set further along the way to achieving their all-round potential.
An integral part of Bablake
Pre Prep pupils are members of one of the country’s leading independent schools. From an early age your children will share in the ambition Bablake has for all of its pupils; that within an ethos of care and community, our shared aspirations help assure academic and all-round success. Pre Prep pupils more specifically benefit from accessing Bablake’s specialist teaching and facilities.
Differing Backgrounds, One Ambition
Families that choose Bablake come from many different backgrounds and cultures but all are determined that their children should have a great education. From a very early age this instils in your children, and then our pupils, the determination to work hard alongside others and to do their best. We nurture that early impetus and give it educational form and academic opportunity. Bablake is a community. The sharing of collective values ensures co-operative success. Our last Inspection concluded that, “Bablake pupils are happy and hardworking, confident and articulate.”
Come and meet us
We hope you are able to come and see our school. You would also be very welcome to visit the main Bablake School site. Every year former Pre Prep pupils leave the Sixth Form at 18 having achieved remarkable success. The educational foundation for this was laid many years before, at the Pre Prep.
A message from the Head of Bablake Pre Prep
Bablake Pre Prep is a special place where children can work and play together in safe and stimulating surroundings. We are proud of our reputation for providing a happy and friendly learning environment where children and parents feel welcome and supported.
Learning should be fun and we tailor our curriculum to make it interesting, exciting and relevant to young children. Emphasis is placed upon building firm foundations and nurturing a love of learning. We aim to inspire all pupils to do their best and to become more independent learners. The curriculum is taught in small teaching groups and incorporates specialist tuition in Music, Languages, PE, ICT, Games and Swimming.
Our team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff seeks to bring out the best in every pupil and to develop skills and talents to the full and to encourage good manners and considerate behaviour.
We do everything possible to make our school an enjoyable and positive experience. We believe that when the time comes to move up to Year 3 at the main Bablake site, the children and parents will take away fond memories of their time with us.

A Great Start
Bablake Pre Prep is a great start to the Bablake educational experience and this is the route through which many pupils begin their time with us. Boys and girls join anytime from the September after their third birthday, as space permits. Prospective pupils are expected to visit the school for a morning prior to their being offered a place. Progression through to Bablake Junior School is then the norm.
Bablake Pre Prep is under the Headship of Mr Neil Price, Headmaster of Bablake Junior School and is overseen on a day-to-day basis by the Head of Pre Prep, Mrs Tracy Horton. Mrs Horton taught higher up the Junior School before transferring to lead the Pre Prep in 2009.
An outstanding and seamless 3-18 educational opportunity at one of the country's leading independent schools.
Younger pupils now have access to a seamless Bablake education from 3 to 18. This means that once accepted into the Pre Prep, children no longer need to sit an examination to progress through Bablake Junior School. Entrance to the Senior School at age 11 is through the Guaranteed Place Test at the end of Year 5 and then the Entrance Test the following January in Year 6. Every year many pupils attain scholarships and bursaries at 11+.
Where are we?
The school is situated a mile from the main Bablake site, just around the ring road and within easy reach of the railway station. Founded in 1909, Cheshunt firstly became part of the Coventry School Foundation in September 2007 and then formally Bablake Pre Prep in 2009.
A warm welcome awaits......
This website will provide only a flavour of the welcoming, homely and purposeful environment that is Bablake Pre Prep. We hope you will come and see for yourself why the children are so happy and do so well.
In EYFS the children show excellent personal development.
