The Business Studies and Economics Department is a thriving part of Bablake.
Mr R G Sewell (Head of Department and Assistant Timetabler)
Mrs L J Alderson (Head of 4th Year)
Mr J G Burns (Assistant Head)
Mrs H E Sawyer
The department comprises 3 teaching rooms with full AV facilities. One of these classrooms has 14 networked computers.
Business Studies and Economics are available at AS and A2.
In addition to high levels of academic achievement, the Department offers an enriching and engaging learning experience. Pupils will find themselves connecting with real world events by involving themselves in a variety of business and economic related activities using a range of resources, media and learning styles. We work hard to ensure your achievements and successes are celebrated and recognised.
Many of our pupils embark upon degree courses in Business and Economics related areas at excellent Universities upon leaving Bablake's 6th Form. A very high proportion of former pupils gain employment in these areas upon graduating.
Pupils participate in a range of extra-curricular activities, e.g. Jaguar Enterprise Challenge, Bank of England Target 2.0 Challenge, HSBS Stock Market Challenge, Shares4Schools, extension lessons, Oxbridge preparation, visits to local firms, a visiting speaker programme, BASE National Business competition, Enterprise Day, Key Skills Day and optional educational visits abroad.
