PUPILS AGED 10-12 (YEARS 6 - 8)
1. Parents are asked to complete the Application Form included with this
booklet and return it to the Headmaster’s P.A. together with the Application Fee
of £35. Closing date for applications – Friday 7th December 2007.
2. Prospective pupils will be required to sit the Entrance Examination held in
January. The date is:- Tuesday 8th January 2008, with papers in English,
Maths and verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
3. Offers of places will be made as soon as possible. At the same time, parents
will be notified of any financial help available through Bursary or Scholarship
schemes.
4. Parents are asked to signify their acceptance of the offer – or otherwise – by
a specific date. A deposit of £300 should accompany the letter of acceptance.
This will be offset against the first term’s fees.
5. Parents and pupils will be invited into School on the following dates to
receive more information and meet their children’s Form Tutors:
Parents:
Wednesday, 18th June at 7pm. The School Shop Manageress (Mrs S Allen) will be
present and parents will be able to view the uniform and sportswear as well as
make appointments for fittings during the summer vacation period.
Pupils:
Thursday 19th June at 2pm and Tuesday 2nd September at 12:30pm. (The new
term starts on Wednesday 3rd September).
Note:
(1) For admission to First Forms in September 2008 a candidate should normally
be eleven but not twelve years of age on 31st August 2008.
(2) A candidate who is ten but not eleven years of age on 31st August 2008 may
be offered a provisional place for September 2009.
(3) For admission to Second Forms in September 2008 a candidate should
normally be twelve but not thirteen years of age on 31st August 2008.
(4) For admission to Third Forms (13+) in September 2008 a candidate should
normally be thirteen but not fourteen years of age on 31st August 2008.
(5) Candidates at age 10: Pre-selection Assessment. In accordance with HMC
guidelines, CSF is willing to assist parents to plan their children’s education
through pre-selection assessment and testing. Candidates for pre-selection
assessment will be offered the opportunity to sit the normal entrance
examination and will be offered a Headmaster’s assessment of the likelihood of
their child achieving the necessary standard for entry at normal age.
Candidates who undergo this pre-selection assessment will however still be
required to undertake the normal selection examination in the year prior to
normal entry.
ENTRY AT 13+ (YEAR 9)
Entry will be by test, in English, Maths and VRQ, with interviews in other
subject areas. Parents are asked to complete the Application Form included
with this booklet and return it to the Headmaster by Friday 7th December 2007.
The 13+ entry exam will take place on Tuesday 8th January 2008. Scholarships
are available.
ENTRY TO THE SIXTH FORM
1. Parents are asked to complete the Application Form included in the further
Information booklet and return it to the Headmaster’s P.A.
2. Applicants will be invited to visit the School, where they will be interviewed
by the Head of Sixth Form and the Headmaster.
3. Academic, Music and Sports Scholarships are all available.
4. After a satisfactory report from the applicant’s present school and
interviews, offers will be made conditional upon gaining specified grades in the
GCSEs. The minimum entry is normally 5 passes at grade B. It is expected
however, that candidates will have grade A in the subjects to be taken for
A-Level, but this may alter for individual applicants. Offers will be made within
three weeks of the interview date.

6. Parents are asked to contact the School as soon as the GCSE results are
known. Once these results prove to be satisfactory a firm offer of a place in the
Sixth Form will be made in a matter of days. In the event of unsatisfactory
results and the subsequent withdrawal of a place by the School, the £300
deposit will be returned.
7. Successful candidates will be invited into School in late June after the GCSE
examinations period to meet the Head of Sixth Form and staff.
There are Open Sessions for prospective parents and pupils on Friday 9th
(evening) and Saturday 10th (morning) November 2007. Full details are
advertised in local newspapers. Parents and their children are welcome to
visit the School and meet the Headmaster, Staff and Pupils at any time
during the year, by prior appointment.
