Amnesty International(AI) is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognised human rights. AI's vision is of a world in which each person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and other international human rights standards.
In pursuit of this vision Bablake's Amnesty group meet every Thursday to learn about and research the human rights violations that HQ inform us about each term. Then we plan, organise and lead assemblies to raise awareness within Bablake of these abuses that are taking place in many parts of the world. The group also creates thought provoking displays and invites all the students and staff to write letters to play their part in bringing about justice for those who human rights are being denied.
The group attracts students who are deeply committed to fighting for justice for all people and is a very powerful force within the school.
