Former Bablake pupil Shane Geraghty is very much back in the headlines as media attention turns to the forthcoming 6 Nations rugby tournament and Bablake is hoping England gives Shane a chance to play at fly half.
Shane adorns the cover of February's edition of Rugby World and former England international Stuart Barnes' article inside rouses the clamour to let Shane loose at No 10 from the start of the 6 Nations.
In the club form of his life at Northampton all season, Shane featured in all 3 of the Autumn internationals, making 2 full starts. Talking to him after the Argentina game, while it was clear to see his pride in playing for England, his supporters were correct to voice a frustration that overall team tactics and selection at centre had stifled Shane's effervescence and creativity.
Shane has also been featured in the Daily Mirror and The Times since the start of 2010 and the pressure to give youth a chance come February is mounting! If we are building for the 2011 World Cup, for many it would be natural to invest in Shane's obvious spark.
Forthcoming official school publications will feature photography from Mr Mark Woodward's visit to England's training session on Remembrance Day 2009.
