Former Wheatleyan Editor Reports On Scottish Independence

Old Wheatleyans Current Affairs

Yesterday we reported on our junior pupils firmly rejecting Scottish independence from the UK in a mini referendum held at Bablake under the auspices of Head of Shells Mrs Amanda Jones.

Today we can report that a former Wheatleyan editor, Beth Rowland, had her first front page regional news story byline printed (just over a week ago in the Nottingham Post) on the same topic.

Beth had spent a week canvassing opinions from over 1000 people in Nottingham with regard to Scotland's referendum. Her research featured not only on the front page but also exclusively on a number of the early pages of the Friday 12th September issue.

With aspirations for a career in journalism, Beth is currently news editor for the University of Nottingham's student magazine Impact and was one of the first local reporters on the scene to file updates on the recent campus fire that threatened to disturb last weekend's Open Day at the university.

We wish Beth well with her aspirations, as she looks to emulate the successful careers of former pupils such as Andy Bevan, Mandy Bhandal Jensen, Liz Copper, Martine Croxall and Melissa Kite, who are already established in this area.
