Lauren's Debut Novel Is Under Review

Old Wheatleyans English

There is great excitement in Bablake's Staff Common Room and Main Library at the moment, since a preview copy of former pupil Lauren James' debut novel 'The Next Together' has arrived, courtesy of Hannah Cooper, Press Officer at Walker Books, ready for the scrutiny of teachers about to embark next month on their summer reading lists.

There is already a long list of staff who taught Lauren that would like to review the preview copy, and Head of Sixth Form Mrs Alison Tumber was the first to immerse herself in the tome this weekend. We look forward to posting her review very soon.

Lauren's powerful and epic debut novel for teenagers about time-travel, fate and the timelessness of first love is told through a mixture of regular prose, diary entries, letters, 'original' historical documents, news reports and internet articles.

Published on September 3rd, 'The Next Together' is available for pre-order now from the usual sources. There is also a limited signed bookmark offer that those pre-ordering may be interested in. Please click here for more information.

Everyone is delighted for Lauren who left Bablake in 2010 and graduated from the University of Nottingham with a 1st class MSc in Natural Sciences. We are planning a book launch early next term for her and will post further details as soon as we have them.
