Lights! Camera! Action! Alex, Claude And Coco Prepare For A Hectic August!

August looks set to be another exciting month for award-winning former pupil, illustrator and author, Alex T Smith.

Since 'Claude: 'Lights! Camera! Action!' has been chosen as Waterstones' Childrens' Book of the Month for August, Alex will be heading off on tour across the UK to promote the edition. Beginning in Coventry's branch on 7th August from 10.30am, Alex and chihauhaa Coco will be meeting his young fans and signing copies of his book. 

Later in the month (Thursday 27th August), as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations, 'a sumptuous, jacketed hardback edition' of Dodie Smith's classic 'The One Hundred and One Dalmatians' will be published, complete with superb new illustrations from Alex. If there were ever to be a project micro-canine fanatic Alex would have paid very good money to be involved, this would surely have been the one!

With a 'Claude' activity book published in time for Christmas and another adventure 'Going for Gold' soon after, 2014's World Book Day illustrator is certainly not showing any signs of easing up on his prolific work-rate.

While promoting Old Wheatleyans who are authors, there is a reminder that we are looking forward to Lauren James' first novel 'The Next Together', which will have a Bablake launch on Friday 11th September from c.3.30pm. Former pupils who knew Lauren or were School Librarians will be most welcome at this event, as well as those with any aspirations to work in publishing, journalism or as an author.
