Bablake Boys Win Football Tournament

Senior School Sport

Third Year pupil Ted Larkin sent the following report to Year Head Miss Kelly Ormsby:

'During the summer holidays we decided to enter a Bablake team into the Christ the King football tournament. This was the second year we had taken part in the tournament and this year entered as reigning champions, so the pressure was on.

We played five group games winning four and drawing one. We then advanced to the semi-finals as the group winners. In the semi-final we played Christ the King and won 2-0 with Ben Harrison scoring both goals.

So then advanced to the final where we faced Coundon Cockerels, the winners of the other group. We defeated them 1-0 with Ben Harrison scoring once again and were therefore crowned tournament champions for the second year running, apparently an unique achievement for the tournament.

The winning squad was (from left to right) Ben Harrison, Ollie Parker, Luca Scimeca, Jack Bent, Ted Larkin, Jayson Wathari and Shane Siwela. Jack Bent (from Princethorpe) kindly agreed to help as we were short on players and we'd like to thank to our loyal supporters on the day Mollie Bradley and Mia McGlinchey.'

Thank you to Ted for his report and we congratulate the boys on their win. Will they make it a hat-trick of wins next year?!
