Bablake Girls Win Gold And Silver Medals

Senior School Performing Arts

Bablake's pupils had a very successful time at this year's Coventry Festival of Speech and Drama. Yesterday we related the phenomenal success of our Junior School pupils, while today Mr Gary Park (English) reports on medals won by Sathvika Krishnan and Jodhi Thandi:

"A number of our Second and Third Year pupils represented Bablake in the Public Speaking class last weekend and two girls emerged on the podium when the adjudicator’s marks were totalled.  Jhodi Thandi, who also won age group prizes in three other classes on the day, brought home the silver medal after speaking powerfully on the subject of ‘Confidence’; she truly put into practice what she preached!

Five other Bablake pupils were highly praised, but the Gold Medal and a fine trophy were awarded to Sathvika Krishnan for a speech on why we must save the tiger from extinction which defeated a number of older GCSE and Sixth Form students, and was praised as an excellent example of the arts of performance and rhetoric."

Many congratulations to all those who took part and represented Bablake.
