Bablake Abuzz With News Of Emerging Wasps RFC Links

Senior School Sport

It is now a year since Wasps RFC moved to Coventry and the club continues to develop at a rapid rate into one of the biggest clubs in Europe, while also hoping to play a major part in the city’s sporting community.

Bablake is looking forward to developing its strong links with Wasps RFC with some exciting developments planned for 2016. We hope that during the year Bablake players will have the opportunity to play at the Ricoh, that members of the Bablake community will gain the opportunity to take part in Education schemes run by the club and that Bablake volunteers will help with the smooth running of events organised by them.

We continue to support 'Wasps! Touch Rugby' and also look forward to assisting 'Wasps and Engage' - a body set up to develop rugby and its core values in the city - in providing a venue for city-wide festivals, with a Year 7 and 8 event already planned for March, in the same month as our Year 5 Rugby Day (Friday 18th March).

By bringing the highest level of rugby to Coventry, we hope our pupils will be inspired to excel themselves. We also hope both pupils and parents will continue to support Wasps on match days. Head of Boys' PE Mr Rob Burdett promises exciting news regarding the Wasps vs Newcastle match on Saturday 6th February, when we hope the majority of Bablake rugby players and their families will be able to go en masse to offer support!

In the future, who knows, a Bablake player running out in Wasps RFC's distinctive 'black and gold'?
