Emma Strikes The Right Note For A National Orchestra

Senior School Music

Congratulations to Emma Blackett who has applied successfully for the National Scout and Guide Symphony Orchestra (NSGSO).

Already a keen member of Coventry's Youth Orchestra, Emma, who also plays in Bablake's Brass Group, Brass Quintet and Wind Band, took up the French horn in our Shells and is already working towards Grade 5 this year. She is now very much looking forward to the summer when the NSGSO will meet for a week and perform at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.

Mr Steve Cooper (Music) commented: "Emma's selection is fantastic news! I am not the slightest bit surprised her musical talent has been recognised. She was an excellent tenor horn player before joining the Senior School, but has gone from strength to strength since she moved to the French horn. I hope she really enjoys her time with the NSGSO and know the experience will be excellent for her."
