Stunning London Mini Marathon Win For Kare

Senior School Sport

The 2016 athletics season kicked off perfectly for Bablake's T34 wheelchair racer Kare Adenegan at yesterday's Virgin Money Giving London Marathon.

Kare's season, which will hopefully peak with representing Team GB at the Rio Paralympics, began in super style as Kare won the U17 Girls Mini Marathon. This was a step up in age group for 15 year old Kare, so a most commendable achievement.

On her own Facebook page, after being photographed with race winners and HRH Prince Harry, Kare commented: "It was a tough race and definitely a test of strength pushing in the wind! It was a privilege to be in the presence of HRH Prince Harry, although I did not get to say 'Hi'."

Kare congratulated Jack Agnew and Shauna Bocquet for winning their categories and gave a special mention to her training partner Zien, who raced in his first mini marathon and also won, which will make the Coventry's Godiva Wheelchair Racing Academy team extra proud.
