Macmillan Coffee Morning Raises £678.98

Senior School Charity

Pupils, parents and staff once again did Bablake proud at this year's Macmillan World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

With support from eager cake-eating Junior School pupils as well as hungry Senior School staff and students,  Charity Coordinator Mrs Maria O'Neill's Sixth Form Macmillan fundraising team raised an excellent £678.98 today.

A tremendous array of cakes, the majority of which had been baked and donated by parents and pupils, was soon dismantled during the morning. Resolve was in short measures as notably your reporter soon succumbed to an outstanding Victoria sponge and Reverend Sacha Slavic felt he needed to take two turns at tasting a very impressive banoffee pie crafted by Upper Sixth student Lily Seery.

Teamwork is a notable area where our pupils regularly receive praise and this was once again proven this morning as almost two dozen of our Sixth formers were involved in decking out our Dining Hall, marketing the event, selling the cakes, banking the money, tidying the room and finally releasing the Macmillan balloons to the skies to cast a broader message.

Well done to everyone involved!
