Harry Selected For NCO U13s

Senior School Music

There has been very good National Children's Orchestra news for Shell Music scholar Harry Scott-Burt recently.

Following a splendid concert with the NCO 'Easterlies' orchestra in Cambridge in late November, that was conducted by Alex Laing who led an OdaC orchestra day at Bablake last year, Harry has just found out he will once again be a member in 2017, this time playing 'cello with the U13s.

He will have a course at Sherborne School with a concert at the Anvil, Basingstoke at Easter, then another course at Sedbergh School with a concert at Leeds Town Hall in the summer and then, excitingly, a December course culminating in a concert at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, the country's finest auditorium.

Harry, who achieved a very high distinction for his grade 8 'cello last year, has just completed his first term of study with concerts at the Royal Academy of Music Junior department. Earlier this term, he also won the instrumental category of the Coventry Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition, held here at Bablake, and, to finish off a busy term, he has just taken his grade 7 piano.

When asked about the U13s, Harry said: "I'm really pleased to have been selected for the U13 orchestra; the courses are fantastic and now I am in the older orchestras, we will be playing our concerts at professional concert halls. Another great part of NCO is meeting up with all my friends from the orchestra!"

Well done, Harry!
