Badminton Team Begins Season In Fine Form

Senior School Sport

Last term saw an exciting badminton fixture versus Solihull School. Lower Sixth student Jakevir Shoker has kindly filed the following match report:

"We split ourselves into six seeded doubles and mixed doubles pairs. From the six games, we won four of them convincingly, with our best win being 21-9. The two games we lost were narrow defeats, one of which was as close as 23-21.

After our official fixtures, we proceeded to play further 'friendly' doubles games and won all of these. Additionally our top singles player Ravi Bodalia, who has represented Warwickshire, challenged Solihull's top players in singles games and was undefeated.

Overall it was a very successful day for the Bablake badminton team and the official result was a 4-2 victory. Encouraged by this impressive first senior match, the badminton team hopes to retain its 100% win record in the new year, with more fixtures, including a rematch against Solihull, planned for the Spring term."
