Study Abroad Fair At Bablake

Senior School Careers


Bablake and local pupils (from 4th year and above) and their families are invited to our third Study Abroad Fair, on Thursday 23rd March 2017 from 6pm- 8pm in the Theatre.

This fair has been organised in conjunction with careers adviser Antony Adams as part of International Education Week 2017 and we asked him to explain more about the event:

Why Study Abroad?

Each year more UK Students are choosing to study overseas for a variety of reasons including:

  • Gaining international experience - UK employers now value students with international experience on their CVs.
  • Study and travel at the same time.
  • Learn a second or third language.
  • An opportunity of a lifetime.
  • Better value for money.

Who is visiting Bablake on 23rd March? 

The group of 17 consists of a mixture of world class research universities and applied sciences universities including: 

  • The Netherlands

Maastricht University - one of the first universities to start the new wave of discussion about study abroad.
University of Groningen - consistently ranked in the top 100 in the World.

 

  • Canada - International Education Week is supported by the High Commission of Canada and therefore we will be joined by eight Canadian Universities including: 

Bishop's University - a small liberal arts university focused on engagement.
Carleton University - offering over 100 majors and specialisations to choose from. 
Concordia University - The Times Higher Education supplement named Concordia among the top 100 universities under 50 years old.
Mount Allison University - ranked #2 undergraduate university in Canada.
Queen's University - located in Kingston, Ontario.
Ryerson University - internationally renowned for its boundary-pushing research and dynamic programmes.
University of Waterloo - ranked Canada’s 'most innovative' university for 25 years in a row.
University of Windsor - located next to North America’s busiest international border crossing.

Arizona State University - ranked the #1 school in the U.S. for innovation, ahead of institutions as Stanford (#2) and MIT (#3).
UES London - a leading application support service for students applying to the USA. 

  • Australia 

UNSW Sydney - ranked 49th in the QS World University rankings. 

  • The rest of Europe 

Germany: KIT - Carl Benz School of Engineering - several rankings declare the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) as leading university in Mechanical Engineering in Germany.
Italy - Istituto Europeo di Design - . A world leading Italian Design school.
Spain: IE University -  amongst the top 30 universities for global employability by International New York Times.
Switzerland: Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne - the world's first and most reputable hospitality management school.
