Bablake Celebrates A League and Cup Double

Senior School Chess

The 2017 Chess season has finished in fine form with our 1st VI/ A team winning another League and Cup double.

Captain Rajen Parekh proudly received the silverware for these competitions from Head of Sixth Form Mrs Alison Tumber earlier this term.

To be Division 1 League champions, Bablake's A team won four of its matches, drew one and lost one, with Warwick School a point behind as runners up, and KHVIII in 3rd. Our B team came 3rd overall in Division 2, in a season that promised more when the squad was top of the league with two matches to play.

In our local Cup competition, Bablake 1st VI beat Warwick School 4-2 in the Final, with Rajen Parekh and Raajun Nagra both winning their boards and Dhru Bodalia, Vikesh Puri, Jakevir Shoker and Leshanth Uthayanan all achieving honourable draws.

Well done to all involved and thank you to coaches Mr Andrew Chowne (Mathematics) and Mr Inderpal Kalsi (Head of Fairfax) for their dedication and expertise.

We will be reporting on the 2017 Lightning Chess and Rowlands Cup competitions later this month.
