Lydia Wins A Prestigious Conservatoire Place

Senior School Music

We are delighted with the exciting news reaching us about the destination beyond Bablake for one of our Upper Sixth musicians.

Soprano Lydia Bruton is to be congratulated on the offer of a place at the highly respected Birmingham Conservatoire, where she can expect to continue being trained to the highest professional standards and participate in outstanding public concerts. This is a tremendously exciting opportunity for Lydia, who has been a superb ambassador for Bablake over the last seven years and always a highlight of the exhaustive programme of concerts arranged by our Music department.

Lydia, who has won her place after a demanding, highly competitive audition process up and down the country, will be especially pleased to start her studies at Birmingham Conservatoire at a time when it will open its new £57 million home alongside Millennium Point.

We are sure the prospect of its five state-of-the-art performance venues - including a public concert hall with the capacity for 346 seats and a full orchestra, a recital hall and smaller experimental music space, organ and jazz rooms - and more than 70 music practice rooms, will be an experience Lydia will thoroughly enjoy.
