BJS House Spelling Bee!

Junior School House Events

The Bablake Junior School House Spelling Bee took place last term, to the delight of pupils.

Pupils across the whole school had the chance to gain a place to demonstrate their spelling skills in the competition. Everyone took part in a written spelling test and the top two pupils from each house, in each year, were chosen to represent their houses in the live Spelling Bee final.

On the day Mr Price and Mrs Jeffcoat shared the role of host as each year group took to the stage. Each pupil had 5 spellings complete and had the unenviable task of spelling into a microphone, in the middle of the stage, in front of the whole school!

Throughout the competition, contestants showed fantastic courage and superb spelling skills, with Year 3 and Year 4 pupils getting 100% of their spellings correct!

With the scores very close throughout the competition, no one could predict a winner until the last round when Nelson took the lead and won with 46 points ahead of Eliot and Churchill, who both finished with 44 points.

Congratulations to all the contestants and thank you to staff and prefects for their help in running the competition.
