Beyond Bablake Session Assists Decision-Making

Senior School Sixth Form

Our Lower Sixth students are about to begin a week of examinations to help them monitor their progress towards next year's official A level papers, and before half term, they followed a programme of talks to help aid their decision-making beyond Bablake.

The 2017 'Beyond Bablake' day was certainly a packed programme, and the following presentations took place:

  • Introduction to 'Life Beyond Bablake' - Mrs Alison Tumber (Head of Sixth Form)
  • 'Employability (18 tips)'; 'Mock Interview Morning 2017 - admin & assistance with Interview Technique' - Mr Mark Woodward (Head of Careers)
  • 'CV Writing' - Mrs Emma Goodman (consultant)
  • 'Choosing a Degree Course and Writing the Personal Statement' - Mr Nick Cave (University of Leicester)

(A break for lunch in the Dining Hall testing the new menu proposed for our redeveloped Sixth Form in September.)

  • 'Life After Bablake... at the University of Bristol and as a Data Analyst for Experian' - Ms Shindy Lall (former pupil)*
  • 'University in the United States' - Mr Jason Smith (UES) / 'Applying for a Degree or Higher Apprenticeship' (practical workshop) - Ms Suki Thandal (WorkPays)
  • UCAS 2017-18 - registration
  • Closing Remarks - Mrs Alison Tumber (Head of Sixth Form)

The day's programme ended with a student vote for the 2017-18 Prefect body. Soon after, everyone departed with much food for thought about their own future decisions as well as thoughts of the revision

*We look forward to featuring Shindy Lall's life at Bristol and beyond in a news article later this term.
