Excellent A level results mark the beginning of a new era...

Examinations Senior School

Bablake announces another year of excellent A level results as it looks forward to opening its new Sixth Form Centre this September.

The exciting developments at Bablake Sixth Form will provide students with a ‘bridge to the adult world’ as they prepare to take their next steps into Higher Education and beyond. The new developments, alongside a new curriculum ‘The Bablake Advantage’, will further support pupils to achieve the historically excellent A level results of which the school is so proud.

A Level Results Summary 2017

  • The overall pass rate is 100%.
  • 74% of all grades are A*, A or B (national average 50%)
  • 26 students achieved 3 or more A* or A grades.
  • 109 students took the exams.

These successful outcomes are reflected in performances from some exceptional individuals. All-round star students, Jasmine Shankster-East, Jasmine Hundal and Vikesh Puri achieved an impressive 3 A*s each and will read Law at Durham University, Medicine at the University of Birmingham and Psychology at the University of Birmingham respectively. Jasmine Shankster-East also added an A* for the demanding Extended Project Qualification, in which 21 from 24 students achieved an A* or A grade – an excellent preparation for university education. Two of our Chinese students, Cathy Liu and Cassiel Yuan, shared 4 A*s and 4 As between them, thereby meeting the very high standards required to study Mathematics at University College London.

Headmaster, Mr John Watson, said: ‘In a year of great uncertainty, with a mixture of old and new-style A levels, our students can be very proud of all they have achieved, both in their examinations and in so many other aspects of school life. They leave us as fine and generous young adults who can embark with confidence on the next stage of their lives’.

Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Alison Tumber, added: ‘They have very bright futures ahead of them and it has been a pleasure to see them grow into such successful and well-rounded young adults.’

The new Bablake Sixth Form Centre will be open to students from September 2017. Students looking to study their A levels at Bablake from September 2018 are invited to attend an Entry to Sixth Form Evening on Tuesday 17th October at 5.30pm, for a first look at the new centre.
