Engineering Education Scheme Underway

Senior School Engineering

This year’s Engineering Education Scheme (EES) is underway with Bablake again entering two teams into this prestigious programme.

Two teams of budding engineers attended an induction session at Coventry University this week to kick off this year’s Engineering Education Scheme. The eight pupils from the Lower Sixth are working with industry partners Arup and Unipart on real life engineering projects. The scheme will last for six months, including a residential at Birmingham University in December, and provides an excellent opportunity for pupils to gain first-hand experience of the engineering industry.

Competition for places on the scheme was fierce, with interviews being held earlier this term for the final team selection. Both teams are already working well together and are looking forward to the challenges of the next few months.

And as part of the virtuous circle at Bablake, Mr Chris West (Head of Design and Technology) is this year being supported in the scheme by Mrs Gemma Heath (Mathematics), who was part of the very first Bablake EES team back in 1994!
