Hard at work at The Grange

Pre Prep Junior School

Our new Pre Prep at The Grange is very much progressing according to plan. A significant amount of work has taken place both with the buildings and the grounds and we are on track to open this great new facility in September.

As things take shape the reality actually gets more and more exciting!

We would love to show you all this but as building works go on that would be rather tricky. As soon as we are able to show you around we will. In the meantime we'll try to keep pictures up to date on progress using our Flickr album.

The Reception classrooms, which will be housed in their own specialist building, are looking great. The building has been remodelled, a new roof added and the infrastructure is going in – ICT, electrics, plumbing etc. The communal work and play area upstairs will form a particularly attractive part of this fantastic teaching and learning environment.

The Kindergarten building has been planned and this will be the last part of the project. Sitting adjacent to its own garden with trees and an outdoor covered play area, this will be a lovely place dedicated to our youngest pupils and allowing them the very best start to their Bablake education.

The main building is in the process of being restored to its original Victorian splendour. Built as a country home, the rooms are large and airy and the open areas downstairs are going to be excellent communal spaces for our school hall and dining hall. Year 1 and 2 classrooms will be on the first floor with specialist rooms – ICT, Music, Learning Support and a Library – on the top floor.

The grounds are waking from their winter slumber and form a spectacular backdrop to our new school; in the orchard the fruit trees are coming into blossom. Play areas are being developed and woodland walks created. We are deciding where to base Forest School and there is a special hide away place around the ‘Magic Tree’ – a yew that is many hundreds of years old.

We are all very much looking forward to the day that we can show you our new school, which we hope won't be too far away!
