Shell Geographers Impress With Half Term Project

Geography

If you ever wondered whether pupils work as hard over the Half Term break as their teachers do catching up with marking and preparing exciting new lessons for the second half of term, well Shell N and Shell R have demonstrated that a good number do.

Over Half Term, these two Shell forms were busy creating projects with the title of ‘Geography So Far’. Their instructions were to create anything that they liked about what had inspired them in their Geography lessons, and the creations that have been brought in are outstanding and full of variety. The submissions have included cakes, posters, raps, model volcanoes, 3D maps, videos, animations and picture dictionaries, to name a few!

Miss Rebecca Priest, who is teaching Geography on a maternity cover, commented: 'The effort that has been put in by the pupils is amazing and it is great to see how imaginative they can be!'

Meanwhile the pupils were keen to comment too. Narankar Sehmi said: 'It was brilliant that our Geography teacher, Miss Priest, set us a piece of homework which could show off our creativity and talent.'

Harry Robinson backed this up, saying: 'I loved finding all of my equipment in the house and being creative with whatever I had.' Ria-Jasmine Ladva added: 'I loved creating my scrapbook and cakes. The cakes made me feel like a baker and making the scrapbook reminded me of a quote I read some time ago: The world is your canvas and you are the painter.'

The final comment came from Taryn Wilson, who summed up the whole exercise, saying: 'It was a fun way to recap what we’ve already learnt and, best of all, the ideas could be anything we wanted from a cake to a compass made with parts of a dismantled clock. They were unique and original.'
