Silver Duke Of Edinburgh Pupils Tied Up In Knots

Duke of Edinburgh

A number of our 5th year pupils who are working towards their Silver Duke of Edinburgh award, are taking the lead running our Shell Textiles club on a Thursday lunchtime.

While they are all enjoying the role for its own sake, this also helps them towards their skills and volunteering tasks.

So far the club has seen pupils make Suffolk puff brooches using hand stitching, and the collage accompanying this article shows everyone starting a new project to customise a T-Shirt. The 5th formers did all the tie-dying themselves, helping the younger pupils to create a design of their choice.

Miss Jodie Kukucska (Food and Textiles) said: 'A few of the group study GCSE Textiles and it is excellent to see them sharing their knowledge and skills with our youngest pupills.'
