2014 Prize Giving Speaker Announced- Sports Photographer Ben Duffy

Archive Archive

We are delighted to announce that our guest speaker at the 2014 Prize Giving ceremony in September will be leading sports photographer Ben Duffy.

Ben was a pupil at Bablake from 1986- 1993. He then studied at Plymouth College of Art and Design, specialising in underwater and sports photography, before looking to take pictures almost exclusively on 'terra firma'. He joined a photographic agency in Leeds, where for six years he worked pitchside under the relentless pressure of national newspaper deadlines.

There are very few leading broadsheets and tabloids that have not called upon Ben's photographic ability for coverage of the leading sports stars from across the world, and his work still takes him to all corners of the globe from Lions rugby tours to track days in the Mojave Desert. One of his most significant assignments was a 24 hour round trip to Jamaica to photograph sprinter Usain Bolt in the run up to the 2012 London Olympics.

Ben’s client list is immensely impressive and has included Adidas, EA Sports, Harper Collins, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and The Premier League. He has also been immensely supportive of Bablake's photographers, both pupils and staff, over the last decade!

We look forward to Ben's return on Thursday 11th September, and we hope that it will prove possible for him to lead a session about his work and offer tips for budding Bablake photographers after school that day.
