Paella, Tapas And Churros Are La Tasca Of The Day

Senior School MFL

A couple of dozen pupils and staff gathered early yesterday near the Birmingham's Barclaycard Arena to sample the Spanish cuisine on offer at the recently opened canalside branch of La Tasca.

Mrs Maria O'Neill, Head of Spanish, had arranged with La Tasca's Maria Lopez for a paella to be cooked in front of the group and a look behind the scenes of the restaurant.

She commented: 'When learning languages, it is important not to neglect the culture behind them. At Bablake, we do our best to introduce our pupils to Spanish traditions and the typical way of life. Food is very important in the Spanish culture and is more of a social occasion when family and friends come together sharing latest news over a meal.

We had a great time at La Tasca and are looking forward to returning there again on Sunday 11th October to share some more tapas and churros con chocolate with you.'
