Bablake's Award Winning Godiva Harriers

Archive Archive

With excitement about the 2012 London Olympics rising, four aspiring Bablake sports stars received recognition for their athletic excellence at the recent Coventry Godiva Harriers annual presentation dinner.

Katerina Jackson won the U13 girls Middle Distance award while England Shot Lucy Smith received both the Marie Hornsby and U17 Throws awards.

Brothers James and Lewis Faulkner also won recognition. James received the U17 Hurdles award, a great achievement since he was competing last season one year group above his current age, while Lewis won both the U13 boys Sprints award and the Jim Spencer Sprints Trophy.

All four will have been further inspired, in their quest for a future Olympics appearance, by the achievements of guest of honour at the awards ceremony Mr Basil Heatley, who won a marathon silver medal at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
