Lunchtime Recital at St John the Baptist 09.09.2012

On Friday, Bablake's Music department returned to St John the Baptist for another lunchtime concert. Building on the success of previous performances at the church over the last couple of years, for this recital Mr Tim Crompton (Head of Music) presented a programme that amply demonstrated the exciting talent of our 6th Form musicians.

Eleanor Morris, Georgia Powell, along with L6th pupils Nick Evans, Bradley Gill, Lara Morley-White and Joshua Rowe entertained the audience with a mix of instrumental pieces by Bach, Debussy, Handel and Mozart, as well as a choral piece by Aaron Copland.

Mr Mark Woodward, Head of Careers, who attended, commented: 'St John the Baptist is a super venue to listen to music in and the whole concert was an excellent chance to stop and relax in the middle of a busy day! I am very much looking forward to Bablake's return later in the term.'

Eleanor Morris, who performed an excellent version of Debussy's 'Arabesque', said: 'I really enjoyed playing my piece for the local community and I was proud to have the chance to demonstrate what happens musically at Bablake.'

Bablake's Music department returns to St John the Baptist later this year on Thursday 13th December and then, in 2013, on Thursday 21st March. The concerts all begin at 1pm and entry is always free.
