Our values

Bablake has been nurturing children since 1344, and our 3-18 education is characterised by high expectations, rich opportunities and a mutually supportive community.

We aim to develop character, intellect and wellbeing within a happy, scholarly and caring community. We educate and inspire young people so that they may lead full, responsible lives and shape a better world.

We are committed to providing opportunities in which pupils can achieve more than they imagined possible. We achieve this rich, broad and stimulating education by balancing four strands:
• Pastoral Care
• Academic Excellence
• Co-curricular Enrichment
• Community Service

Our values

We encourage everyone at Bablake to embrace our shared values to help create a community that is inclusive, kind, supportive, environmentally conscious and open to the world around us.

1

Responsible

We take ownership of our actions, studies and role in society. We follow through, act proactively and prepare thoroughly.

We use resources wisely, care for the environment and promote peace and reconciliation.

We foster autonomy, encourage leadership and work to resolve problems.

2

Reflective

We are open to other perspectives and value every individual. We build relationships through compassion and empathy.

We reflect on our actions and studies. We are resilient and see failure as part of success.

We seek better ways of doing things and aim for excellence in all we do.

3

Respectful

We deeply regard each other and celebrate diversity through shared values and traditions.

We encourage individuals to stand up for their beliefs and celebrate their individuality. We act with honesty, integrity and kindness.

We believe we can positively impact our school and local community, challenge prejudice and foster peaceful relationships.

Peace and reconciliation

While rooted in a Christian foundation and ethos, Bablake embraces pupils of varied beliefs and backgrounds, valuing the cultural and social diversity that defines its distinctive character. This inclusive approach is a cornerstone of the School’s strength and identity.

Bablake is an International Cross of Nails School linked to the community of the Cross of Nails at Coventry Cathedral. We’re committed as part of our life and ethos to the mission of the city of Coventry: peace and reconciliation.

At Bablake we are committed to promoting these values:

  • in our own lives, as we seek to be at peace with ourselves.
  • in our attitude to others, as we seek to live at peace with our neighbours.
  • in our life as a school community, as we seek to resolve conflict and reconcile our differences.
  • in our curriculum, as we seek to deepen our awareness and understanding of the world beyond school.
  • in our service to the local and national community, as we seek to build links and work in partnership with others.
  • in our commitment to social justice and peace, as we seek to eradicate injustice and conflict.
  • in our international links, as we seek to promote mutual support and understanding which transcends boundaries of faith, culture, race and gender.
