Bablake Celebrates Cultural Diversity Day

December 13, 2023

On Friday 30 June, Bablake School held its first Culture Day, celebrating the importance of diversity and cultural differences within the Bablake community.

Bablake Cultural Day

Activities took place throughout the School with a focus on inclusivity, opportunity and equality. A colourful fashion show was held at lunchtime showcasing creative and unique styles of clothing from many different countries. The international buffet in the hall gave pupils and staff the opportunity to taste foods from all over the world including Nigeria, Ethopia, Wales, Italy and India. Sixth Formers enjoyed a fun, but competitive World Cup rounders tournament on the front field in the afternoon and all year groups experienced a cultural twist in their lessons.

Cultural Diversity Day“We believe protecting the diversity of cultural expressions is more important than ever,” comments Andrew Wright, Headmaster. “There was a terrific atmosphere around school with fascinating discussions taking place. I particularly enjoyed all the delicious, diverse range of treats being served at the international buffet.”

Money was raised to support Culture Day by the School’s Inc Society. Inc Society gives pupils from different backgrounds, whether it’s ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation related, a safe space to discuss and debate topics that would not normally be spoken about in the classroom.

Last week’s event was the first ever culture day at Bablake School but it has already become established in the School’s calendar as an annual event.
