Sixth Form Students Take on ‘Analytical Monopoly’ in Spectroscopy Workshop
March 26, 2025
Chemistry students took part in Analytical Monopoly, an interactive spectroscopy workshop led by Warwick University Assistant Professor, Sam Trouton and a PhD student in Physical Sciences.

The session challenged students to apply analytical chemistry in a competitive, real-world context.
Students worked in teams as competing businesses, they worked to identify unknown chemicals, strategised on which analytical techniques to invest in and then aimed to turn a profit, all while reinforcing key A-level spectroscopy concepts and exploring advanced analytical methods.
The workshop provided a fantastic opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of spectroscopy and gain insight into its practical applications.
