Mock interview Practice Session
It was fantastic to welcome Elliot Walker back to Bablake as he returned to school to share his experiences and career journey with our students.
Elliot studied Business, Economics and Physical Education during his time in our Sixth Form and is now a Graduate Surveyor working in commercial real estate, valuing retail parks, supermarkets and shopping centres.
He highlighted that career paths are not always straightforward after leaving A Levels, especially during challenging times like the pandemic. After applying for a degree apprenticeship with CBRE, his offer was cancelled due to restrictions. Instead of letting this setback define his journey, Elliot spent a year gaining valuable work experience before choosing to go to university.
His journey shows that success is not always linear, with determination and by making the most of every opportunity along the way, you can still reach your original goal. In a full-circle moment, Elliot is now employed at CBRE, the very place he hoped at the start.
Elliot shared the many opportunities within the construction and built environment industry, from valuation and development to planning, investment and project management.
A huge thank-you to Elliot for inspiring our students and demonstrating the resilience, adaptability and ambition needed to thrive beyond Bablake.
