Celebrating Innovation as Sir John Egan Joins Our F1 STEM Racing Pupils

April 23, 2026

We were proud to welcome Sir John Egan to our school for a morning celebrating innovation, engineering and our pupil’s achievement.

Sir John, former Chief Executive and Chairman of Jaguar Cars, met with our CEO Jason Eaton, Headmaster Andrew Wright and Governor David Kershaw before spending time with our exceptional F1 STEM Racing teams.

Our pupils proudly showcased their work as part of the globally recognised F1 in Schools programme, an initiative that challenges young people to design, manufacture and race miniature Formula 1 cars using cutting-edge technology and engineering principles. Through this programme, pupils develop vital skills in CAD design, aerodynamics, branding, teamwork and project management, preparing them for future careers in engineering.

The hall was converted into a full race environment, complete with professional display stands and a fully operational racetrack. Each team presented their car designs, portfolios and branding, explaining the engineering decisions behind their builds. Sir John took time to speak with every team, sharing fascinating insights and personal stories from his time in the automotive industry.
