ISI Inspection: Outstanding Marks for Bablake School
July 13, 2023
Coventry School Bablake is celebrating after receiving the highest accolades from School Inspectors for the Pre-Prep, Junior and Senior Schools.
The ISI Inspection Report, published this week, graded both schools as ‘excellent’ in its two categories of academic and other achievements, and personal development.
The report compliments teaching in the secondary school, which it said meant that at GCSE and A Level “almost all pupils achieve significantly higher exam grades than expected”. They were similarly impressed with pupils, who they said, “display exemplary attitudes towards their learning, approaching their studies with rigour and purpose”.
It’s not all work there though, and among the activities highlighted by the report is the school’s Formula One team, which reached the national finals, while at the Junior School pupils enjoyed national opera productions and were reigning county cricket champions.
Junior School pupils were seen to be equally industrious. The inspectors said that pupils “achieve highly in a wide range of subject areas,” and that staff “help to ensure that every individual is valued”. They praised support strategies which enabled struggling learners to make good progress, and the academically able pupils to achieve at a high level.

Chris Stanley, Principal
Headmaster Andrew Wright said that while he was giving staff “a well-earned pat on the back”, there was no time to rest on their laurels. “Just look at the pace of development in AI,” he said. “We must turn out pupils who are ready for a world of work which we can’t even yet imagine. We are going to be investing in IT and STEM [science, technology, and maths] equipment and teaching in order to meet that challenge head on.”
