Inside the classroom

Our classroom environment is both vibrant and inspiring. An engaging curriculum, individualised attention and a supportive culture ensure that every one of our young learners can thrive.

At Bablake, every voice is heard. Every idea is given the attention it deserves. Every child is encouraged to articulate their thoughts, and we help them become increasingly confident and comfortable.

Every child’s talents and capabilities are different, so our classroom setting and structure is designed to unlock their potential at every stage and equip them for future challenges.

To enable that focus on the individual, each year group consists of small classes of approximately twenty pupils.

Small class sizes encourage a close-knit community and enable each child to benefit from personalised support and well-rounded development.

TEACHING STRUCTURE

Cultivating academic and personal growth

Our junior classes are all led by their own Form Teachers. A consistent Form Teacher helps our children build strong foundations of trust and focus. We then introduce specialised teachers and facilities as pupils progress and their confidence grows. This core learning structure has been refined over many years to nurture academic development and personal growth.

We have specialist teachers for Art, DT, Music, Sport, French, Spanish, Computing and RE.

ENGLISH, DRAMA AND ART

Fostering creativity and critical thinking in small classes

Our children learn to express themselves and their ideas through English Language and Literature, while Drama helps to foster their imagination and confidence.

Art and Design Technology stimulates their creativity and critical thinking.

Throughout the School pupils’ mathematical prowess is strengthened by teaching that allows the pupils to really become engrossed in the topic and by encouraging their charges to have a go, be bold and talk processes through with their peers.

Music

MUSIC

An enriching musical education

All children at Bablake have the opportunity to enjoy musical experiences and take part in music making in weekly classes. Pupils are encouraged to enjoy singing and playing instruments; in groups, individually and all together.

Academic and instrumental Music lessons are taught by specialist Music teachers with the majority taking place in the Senior School . All pupils have a weekly Music lesson and have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. Singing is an important communal activity and we take every opportunity to sing together.

Assemblies with singing and performances take place every week. Concerts are held throughout the year along with Bablake’s Got Talent annual performance. There are a number of trips to concerts and musical events as well as workshops from visiting musicians. The children love performing and previous productions have included Madagascar, Jungle Book and Matilda. At Christmas we hold a Carol Service at the stunning Coventry Cathedral.

We want every child to flourish at Bablake. Together, we can ensure that your child gets the support they need.

Form Teachers are a vital link between home and school life, and we encourage parents to communicate with their child’s Form Teacher whenever they need to.

To keep you close to your child’s progress, we provide reports for each child at the end of every term and hold our parents’ evenings twice a year.

working together

We have complete confidence in the staff in ensuring that our son is being appropriately stretched and challenged in his learning alongside building his confidence in his own abilities.
