Life outside the classroom

Learning extends beyond the classroom with an exciting range of sports and a huge array of extra-curricular activities. Our extensive range of activities not only enables children to develop their current skills but also unlock new passions in the process.

Sport

Developing skills and teamwork

Sport is an integral part of our curriculum. It is vitally important to us that every child has the opportunity to get involved and that we give them confidence to develop or discover their ability.

Children also have a PE lesson every week and participate in a variety of activities, including basketball, short tennis, badminton, dance and movement, athletics and ball skills.

All our pupils are given the chance to proudly represent the School in fixtures against both local and regional schools.

Bablake Junior School has tremendous indoor sporting facilities, including a large sports hall, swimming pool, gym, dance studio and climbing wall.

We also have outdoor tennis and netball facilities, astroturf pitches and vast playing fields for rugby, rounders, cricket, athletics and football.

Music

We foster a love of Music and creativity.

At Bablake students can learn a musical instrument separate to their main music lesson. The huge benefits of learning a musical instrument are widely documented across the world and as such we actively encourage the learning of a range of instruments at school.

We offer instrumental lessons on the following instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone, Clarinet, Recorder, Trumpet, Trombone, Horn, Tuba, Euphonium, Electric/Bass guitar, Drum kit, Acoustic guitar, Classical guitar, Piano and Voice.

Clubs and activities

Each week is different at Bablake Junior School.  We provide a full range of experiences and challenges for our pupils through our co-curricular programme.

Before, during lunchtime and after school, pupils have the opportunity to participate in a over 40 clubs and activities designed to enrich their school experience. From Young Engineers, Lego, Funky Fitness to Minecraft, our range of clubs is expansive.

These clubs and activities play a crucial role in enhancing the overall growth of each pupil. We actively promote our pupils to get involved in various clubs, fostering the acquisition of new skills and the development of their personal interests.

Adventure and learning at Forest School

Children love our Forest School. The child-led approach enables all-round development, as well as nurturing a connection between children and the natural environment.

Forest School sessions are held in our woodland areas. Children learn to cook over open fires, construct shelters and use tools. Learning these skills develops self-confidence and encourages the children to try new skills.

Forest School provides a canvas for children to explore, imagine and express their creativity in a natural and unstructured setting, leaving a lasting impact on their development and appreciation for the outdoors.
