Key 1st XV Memorial Trophy Fixture Nears

Senior School Rugby

The 2017 contest for the Mike Hibbert Memorial Shield is just a week away!

Despite the loss of key Upper Sixth players to injury, Bablake's 1st XV - strengthened by the core of the impressive U16 side that won last year's Coventry Schools trophy - is looking to avenge the 2016 defeat against a resurgent KHVIII side, coached by former Old Wheatleyans RFC coach Jonathan Fitt.

Deputy Head Mr Chris Seeley commented: "We always look forward to this fixture as it is a very special occasion for not only players from both teams, but also the 1000 plus supporters braving the February evening chill!"

Admission, charged at the turnstiles, will be priced at £2 for adults and £1 for anyone aged 18 or under.

If you wish to park at the ground, please bear in mind Coventry RFC will charge £3 per car; otherwise there is plenty of free parking on nearby roads. If you do arrive early, you will be able to purchase drinks at the club, and should you be tempted by some fast food, the burger vans will also be open for business."

This fixture, which kicks off at 7pm on Wednesday 15th February, is contested each year in honour of Mike Hibbert, a former pupil who played for over 30 years for the Old Wheatleyans RFC and was a key member of the Coventry Schools Former Pupils Association committee.
