Bablake's Wonderful and Wacky Art Workshop Week

Senior School Art

Bablake pupils in Shells, 2nd Year and 4th Year were treated to a selection of Art workshops in the penultimate week of the half term.

At the beginning of the week the Art department welcomed Michala Gyetvai. Michala is an award winning, widely exhibited artist who works from studies in pastel and then ‘paints with fibres’ on old dyed blankets, 'moving around the piece like a dancer inhabiting an imaginary landscape'. Her incredible talent and stunning pieces inspired pupils as they created their own versions of her work using the same technique.

Later in the week we welcomed back Emma O'Brien who led two terrific workshops with Shells and 2nd Years making 'Dead Dude Zombie Dolls'. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed using their creativity and imagination to make their textile zombie dolls as wacky and gruesome as possible!

Thank you to both Michala and Emma for such excellent workshops and to the Art department for arranging such great opportunities for our pupils.
