A Super Saturday for Bablake Sport

Senior School Sport

On Saturday 19th May, eight Bablake teams took to the school playing fields for a 'Super Saturday' of sport.

With the sun on their backs the rounders teams took to the field first, with four fixtures against Princethorpe College. The girls all shone with cheers going up across the grounds as Bablake players raced around the posts to score multiple rounders and showed excellent fielding prowess on the pitch. All four teams came away victorious with some impressive scores across the board:

  • U15 As won 18 - 14
  • U14 As won 23.5 - 11
  • U12 As 20.5 - 8
  • U12 Bs won 22 - 7

As the rounders matches wrapped up the cricketers were still in full swing in their fixtures against King Edwards Stratford (K.E.S). The Bablake boys showed fantastic commitment and sporting skill as they fought hard throughout the morning against strong K.E.S sides. The U14 and U12 teams tested spectator nerves as they neared the end of their matches, with the U12s losing by a painful one run and the U14s winning by eight runs. In the other two matches the U15s completed a successful run chase to win by three wickets and the U13s lost by seven wickets after falling foul to some accurate K.E.S bowling. The final scores were as follows:

  • U15s won by 3 wickets
  • U14s won by 8 runs
  • U13s lost by 7 wickets
  • U12s lost by 1 run

It was a super Saturday of sport for the Bablake teams and with the sun high in the sky it was a stark contrast to the winter games season. Thank you to spectators for their continued support at fixtures and well done to all pupils involved in the matches.
