Bablake Pre Prep moving next year!

Pre Prep Junior School

Exciting times are ahead for the Pre Prep as it plans to move after purchasing a listed country house which will provide an attractive new learning location.

Bablake Pre Prep, which is part of Coventry School Foundation, has acquired The Grange in Brownshill Green Road, from where it will continue to cater for pre-school children through to Year 2.

Heavy investment over the next 12 months will create a stunning new learning environment at The Grange, which was built in 1876 for Hugh Rotheram, of Coventry’s watchmaking family. The building has previously been used as an educational facility and was recently owned by Coventry City Council. It is set within six acres of wooded grounds including much park-like space and an orchard.

Bablake Pre Prep plans to move to its new location from its current site on Park Road, just off the main city centre Ring Road, next September for the start of the 2019/20 academic year.

Mr Neil Price, Bablake Junior and Pre Prep Headmaster, said that this is an exciting time for staff, pupils and parents. He said: “It’s been the intention for some time to move Bablake Pre Prep and we are thrilled to have found the perfect location.

“The house and additional buildings are ideal for the needs of the school. One of the most exciting elements is the outdoor space that contributes so much to a most agreeable setting and will provide wonderful play and learning spaces for the children.

“We have written to all of our parents to let them know of our plans and the feedback has been very positive.

“This is a great step forward for Bablake Pre Prep and reflects our goal to provide the very best education from Early Years to Year 2, before pupils move on to the main Bablake site for Year 3.”

Coventry School Foundation is investing between two and three million pounds on the project and approximately 16 staff will be based at the new location, led by Bablake’s Head of Pre Prep, Mrs Tracy Horton. She said: “This move will further enhance our reputation for providing a safe, happy, aspirational and friendly learning environment for our children.

“The site has fantastic potential and we will be able to offer a great all-round educational experience with even more outdoor learning opportunities, including Forest School. This is a really exciting development for everyone.”

As well as benefitting the school and its pupils, local primary schools will be welcomed to use the Forest School facilities, alongside local community groups. No plans have yet been announced for the existing Pre Prep site in Park Road.
