Inside the classroom

In Early Years, your child will become a creative and critical thinker; planning their own learning and choosing appropriate resources. We provide an stimulating curriculum that children enjoy, whether inside the classroom or outdoor in one of our dedicated outdoor learning spaces.

In Years 1 and 2, the academic curriculum is broad, balanced and engaging. The children are appropriately challenged and supported as necessary. Our teaching approach is a combination of whole class teaching, group work and personalised support.

ENGLISH AND MATHS

Discovering a love of learning

English and Mathematics primarily take place in the morning, with other subjects such as Science, Computing, Geography, History and RE taking place in the afternoons.

We place an emphasis on the progression of numeracy, literacy and reading. Through simple homework tasks, children develop their times tables and spellings.

ART, COMPUTING and DT

Exploring creativity

Children enjoy lessons in Art, Computing and Design Technology which all take place in our specialist teaching rooms.

We work with children to develop a range of skills including observing, recording and communicating whilst using a wide range of media and techniques.

DRAMA

Developing communication and collaboration

Our children develop their confidence and creativity through Drama. Improvisation and role play is integrated into the learning process from the very start.

Drama is taught within the English curriculum but also in co-curricular clubs after school. The Christmas performance is always a real highlight of the year.
