Record-Breaking A Level Results

Bablake School is celebrating an exceptional set of A Level results, with students achieving the strongest A* performance in the school’s history.

This year, 18% of all grades were awarded at A*, the highest figure ever recorded at Bablake. Overall, 42% of grades were awarded at A*/A and 70% at A*/B, reflecting the hard work, determination and ambition of the Class of 2026. Twenty-five students achieved all A*/A grades, while almost half of all Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) grades were awarded at A* or A.

Head Master Andrew Wright praised the achievements of the year group:

“Congratulations to our Year 13 students on a truly outstanding set of A Level results. Their hard work, determination and resilience have been rewarded with exceptional outcomes.

These results reflect not only the dedication of our students, but also the unwavering support of families and staff throughout their journey. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and wish them every success as they take their next steps.”

Among the cohort’s outstanding performers was Dylan, who achieved four A* grades alongside two Outstanding grades in the highly demanding STEP examination and will now take up his place at the University of Cambridge. Vincent secured all A* grades and achieved one of the highest Economics marks in the country before progressing to UCL to study Economics. Imogen achieved four A* grades and an A* in her EPQ and will study Sport Science at the University of Birmingham while continuing her athletics career representing England at international level. Oriana, who joined Bablake specifically for Sixth Form, also achieved straight A* grades.

One particularly inspiring success story is Olha, who joined Bablake after arriving in the UK from Ukraine following the full-scale invasion of her homeland. Her family reflected on the positive impact the school had during a challenging period, describing Bablake as a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where she was able to thrive academically, build lasting friendships and look to the future with confidence.

The achievements of this year’s leavers extend far beyond the classroom. Throughout their time in the Sixth Form, students have made significant contributions to school life through sport, music, drama, leadership, volunteering and service.

Helen Billings, Head of Sixth Form, said:

“These results are the product of dedication, perseverance and hard work, achieved alongside a remarkable contribution to school life through sport, music, drama, leadership, volunteering and service.

Whether they are progressing to university, apprenticeships, employment or a gap year, I wish them every success for the future. We are immensely proud of you all.”

Students will now progress to a wide range of exciting destinations, including leading universities, apprenticeship programmes, employment opportunities and gap year experiences.

Reflecting on the achievements across the Coventry School Foundation, Chief Executive Gordon Smith commented:

“These results are just reward for the hard work of our students, who have been wonderfully supported by our incredible staff teams at Bablake and King Henry VIII Schools. With 40% of all grades across the schools at A* and A, these outcomes demonstrate the strength and breadth of our schools’ academic offer.”

Everyone at Bablake School congratulates the Class of 2026 on their remarkable achievements and looks forward to following their future successes.
