The Excellent Bablake Learner
At Bablake, learning is about far more than memorising facts or achieving strong grades, it is about developing the character, habits and intellectual curiosity that enable pupils to thrive in school and far beyond. The Bablake Learner brings together six core values that shape the way our young people think, behave and grow. Together, these qualities help pupils take ownership of their learning, embrace challenges, and develop a confident, adaptable and inquisitive mindset.
Be Responsible
Responsibility is taking charge of your learning; setting priorities, understanding how you learn and making use of support. It also means having self-respect and respect for others involved in the learning process.
Be Resourceful
Resourcefulness is the inner strength that helps you make progress and overcome difficulties, be prepared to learn independently and take advantage of the support and facilities that are available to you.
Be Creative
Creativity is making connections and approaching problems in new ways, using your knowledge to explain how one feature links to another; thinking ‘outside the box’ – can I solve this in a different way, can I express this in a different way? It is working with other people to develop fresh solutions and new ideas.
Be Curious
Curiosity is having a hungry mind: engaging in lessons, listening actively, asking questions, pursuing knowledge, making connections and seeking out new intellectual experiences. It means taking learning beyond the classroom.
Be Bold
Boldness is the willingness to take risks and not be afraid of failure, recognising that learning is a journey that is characterised by both success and frustration.
