Valete- (14) Mrs Chris Scott (Girls' PE and Head of 3rd Year)

Staff Sports

The penultimate retiree to feature in our 2013-14 'Valete' series is Mrs Chris Scott, who primarily taught Girls' PE at Bablake for 26 years, having joined Bablake in January 1988.

Mrs Scott leaves us after a very successful career. Her insistence on high standards has meant that her pupils have made great progress under her guidance, especially in netball and tennis, but she has also been determined to ensure that our girls enjoy healthy participation in a range of sports.

She ably assisted Mr Woodward in Careers for over 15 years, and her strong emphasis on pupils’ welfare led to her appointment as Assistant Head of 2nd and 3rd Years, and latterly, Head of 3rd Year. She has never believed in ‘quick fixes’ and has therefore worked tirelessly in this role towards positive and practical outcomes for those in her care.

Mr Mark Woodward (Head of Careers) added: 'Chris has always been one of the professionals who has believed in pupils showing the highest of standards in whatever they have pursued. I'd endorse the thanks expressed for her work in the Careers department. Bablake's own Ant and Dec, Little and Large or Morecombe and Wise, namely Scotty and Woody, has come to a close, but Chris' outstanding support for so many of our pupils and staff has left a super legacy.'

We wish Mrs Scott a very happy and healthy retirement, much of which will be spent profitably, purposefully and competitively on the golf course or tennis courts. We are also sure we will see her back at Bablake for many events like last week's Charity Netball tournament, which she supported as an umpire. She does insist though that she is ineligible for a place at the Senior Citizens' Party for a number of years since she is taking early retirement!
