Engineering Education Scheme- Part 20!

Sixth Form

The highly successful Engineering Education Scheme is up and running again for the 20th consecutive year at Bablake.

This year's team of L6th pupils- Tom Betts, Chris Blackett, Edward Collier and James Horton- is seen here in a meeting room, at its sponsor Arup's headquarters, talking with link engineer Adam Harding.

Not only is it the 20th year that Mr West and the Design Technology department have been involved with EES, but it is also the 14th year Bablake has worked with Arup, the civil engineering group, as advisers and mentors.

This year, the team is working on a solution for a roof design for a Metro system which is to be built in Doha as part of the infrastructure for the World Cup in 2020. The team has to consider materials and sustainability in its solution as well as the impact on surrounding areas and buildings.

At the end of this term, the team will attend a residential workshop at the University of Birmingham, in preparation for its final assessment day in May 2015.
