Sixth Form Learns How To Respond When There Are No Answers

Sixth Form Enrichment

Sarah Shalgosky, curator of the University of Warwick’s Mead Gallery since 1993, kindly visited Bablake to lead our first full year group U6th Enrichment session of the 2016-17 academic year.

Ms Shalgosky presented a fascinating synopsis of her work, including running galleries, an international business and working with Tate galleries director Sir Nicholas Serota. Her main message was also a significant one, stressing the importance of developing creative responses to problems, especially in situations where there are no 'right' answers.

Mrs Cathy Scott-Burt (i/c Enrichment and Outreach coordinator) commented: "The afternoon's message was a fascinating one for our Upper Sixth who will be heading to university or employment in a few months' time, where their creativity and initiative will prove invaluable in new surroundings."

Head of Art Mr Paul Cleaver added: "Sarah's passion for abstract art really shone through, as did her excitement about all the dynamic projects she has undertaken in her illustrious career."

We thank Ms Shalgosky for her visit and wish her all the very best with her next project, setting up a gallery at the new University of Warwick campus in California. This gallery will be a location where the arts will be at the centre of encouraging creativity in students from an early age right through to their higher education.
