Headmaster's Bulletin (28)

Headmaster

We have begun the new school year with an emphasis on opportunity:

“This moment is your life.” (Omar Khayyám)

“Carpe diem. Seize the day. Make your lives extraordinary.”

“Strive to find your own voice, dare to strike out and find new ground, dare to walk a new path.” (Dead Poets’ Society)

All our pupils are unique, with their own special talents and personalities, and individually as well as together, with peers and staff, they have the potential to achieve great things. Our new Shells are embarking on a new and exciting adventure, and we hope they will enjoy every stage of the journey that lies before them. Our Sixth Formers set the tone at the top of the school, and have fresh possibilities to develop leadership and mentoring skills, to work more independently and to look towards promising futures. For us as staff - however long we have been teaching - every year, every class and every lesson represents a new opportunity.

Please encourage your son or daughter to embrace school life, to try out different activities and to view each week as a fresh challenge. Routine is suffocating, and we should determine at the beginning of another academic year to take a new look at the world and our daily activities, to experience the rich variety of life and to share our gifts and our personalities with those around us. Our school years are the most formative of our lives. Those seven years go all too quickly, and their opportunities and experiences mould us for ever. Cherish the moment!
